Nagaland, the Sixteenth State of Indian
Union, bounded in the north by Arunachal Pradesh, in the west
Assam in the south Manipur, was created in 1963 It is a fascinating
country with healthy climate, fertile soil, well cultivated,
drained and manured terraced fields of paddy. Rice is Naga’s
staple diet supplemented by meat and fish. The team “Naga”
is devised from Sanskrit “Naga” and literally means
‘hillmen”. Nagaland is the home of Indo-Mangoloid
hill-tribe known as Nagas.
Kohima, the Capital of State is the main Naga town. It is situated
on the southern most bare ridge of the Naga hill. Kohima is
one of the most exotic towns of Asia with its floral wealth,
enchanting landscape, dense forest, scrub and grass jungles,
parks, and museum and war cemetery. Kohima is also noted for
its exquisite handlooms and silk products. Thirty eight km.
away is Intaki where lies a wild-life sanctuary. Seventy eight
km. west of Kohima is Dimapur, the nearest airport. The accommodation
