Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh, rich and varied flora and fauna, is a home
of a large number of tribes of different socio economic and
religious pattern. Studded with hills and valleys and comprising
frontier divisions of Kamang, Tirap, Subansiri, Lohit and Slang,
this land is predominantly rural and pastoral. But it can boast
of a precious treasure in the form of enchanting orchids, the
loveliest flowers which grow here in abundance. In India there
are over 1,000 species of which 500 are found here. Itanagar
the headquarters of the State, has ruins of historical Ita Fort.
The places worth visiting are Parshuramkund in the Lohit district,
supposed to be the place where the sage Parshuram washed his
sword after massacring warrior class 21 times and Bhishmak Nagar,
dating back to Mahabharat period. The last mentioned town has
association with the personage of Mahabharat: Rukmani and Shishupal.
Bomdila is another famous place which shot intoprominence during
Chinese War of 1962. Other places of tourist interest are Twang
monastery in Kamang district, the Mandapa Wild Life Sanctuary
in Tirap district.
